Missing MIRC Days

I started chatting at MIRC around 2007 if my memory serves me right and used the handle cY_cOoL for a long time, it all started the first time to have computer (Pentium II PC) of my own and have internet at home for the first time. That time we are still using dial-up in able to connect to internet and the fastest speed that we can get is 56kbps (imagine how slow it was compares to nowadays). Ok..let us start by defining what is MIRC..

mirc

mIRC is a popular Internet Relay Chat client used by millions of people, and thousands of organizations, to communicate, share, play and work with each other on IRC networks around the world. Serving the Internet community for over a decade, mIRC has evolved into a powerful, reliable and fun piece of technology.

What is DALNET?

DALnet is an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network designed to minimize the problems of lag, netsplits and political disputes that plague other IRC nets. Featuring a friendly environment and a well-managed administration, combined with superior technical features, DALnet provides a fun, easy-to-use, secure environment for real-time conversation via the Internet.

But more than that, DALnet is a place where people can come and chat. It’s a place for folks from far away and folks from next door to talk, mingle, and gain something from the experience. It’s a party that’s always open, and doesn’t need an invitation. It’s a fancy dress ball, with no dress code. It’s a bar, where every drink is on the house. It’s home, it loves you, and it hopes you love it back.

It is really cool during those days, I did have lots of fun meeting lots of people and most of them became my best buddies until today. I started chatting in different channels in Dalnet and finally went to Bulacan channel where I have met most of my friends.

We really do looks like that we are really drunk here, but it’s fun and we stayed at our friend’s house and sometimes we stayed here for couple of days.

Oh..those were the days..but now all of us have different lives and had families of our own to take care unlike those time most of us are still single. I hope someday we could still have our Grand Eyeball “GEB” but this time we might be having GEB with our family and kids. Things will be much different unlike the old days. Thank you MIRC for giving me a chance to meet great friends and had great times!
